If you are experiencing problems with your Fibreline circuit then you can connect your computer directly to it in order to see if your router or firewall is causing the connectivity problems. If your connection works fine in this setup then you will know that something within your network is causing the problems.
Please note that this is suggested by our support team only as a temporary diagnostic procedure, and not as a permanent network setup.
During this procedure you will configure your computer with a static IP address, allowing it to setup a direct connection with our network. You will need to know your IP address allocation, gateway IP address, subnet and DNS servers. We will have emailed this to you when the service was first setup. If you cannot find a copy of this then please contact our support team.
In order to get started, disconnect any existing equipment that is plugged into the termination equipment that was installed on site during the service setup. Now plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet socket of your computer, and the other into the Ethernet socket on the termination point.
The configuration of your computer will vary depending on he operating system that you use.
If your operating system is not included above then simply perform an internet search for 'static IP address' and your operating system.
As you follow the instructions make a note of the existing values so that you can easily put them back in once you have finished testing the circuit.
