Please note that newer versions of the 3CX client only support 3CX systems, and not third party services such as Gradwell telephony. Therefore they cannot be configured to use on our platform. An alternative softphone that has been tested on our platform is the Zoiper mobile client, instructions for which can be found here.
We have kept the instructions below for reference only, in case you are using an older version of the client.
The 3CXPhone is a softphone that can allow you to make and receive VoIP calls on your mobile phone. It is a free application and works with Android (from the Play store) and the iPhone (from the iTunes store).
The screenshots below are for the Android version of 3CXPhone, however setup steps should be similar on the iPhone.
Once you have downloaded and installed the application, launch it. If it asks you if you have a 3CX PBX, just select no and then select Add new.
The following fields need to be configured:
Profile Name: enter a name for the account
User: enter your seven digit extension number
Password: enter the password for the extension
Internal Server: leave blank
External Server: enter sip.gradwell.com
Stun Server: Please ensure that you delete the text stun3.3cx.com and leave blank
Now click on Advanced and enter nat.gradwell.net:5082 into the Proxy field, and ensure that Enable NAT is ticked. Go back and click Save. Your account should now register.
Making a call
To make a call, simply open the 3CXPhone application, enter the number you wish to dial using the keypad. Press the green button to make the call. You can also open your phone book by pressing the icon in the lower left hand corner.
By default, 3CXPhone has a setting enabled that allows the application to push calls made from your phone's keypad over VoIP as opposed to the GSM network. This is a great way to reduce your call costs and present your business phone number. However, if you would prefer to use your mobile provider's network (and display your mobile number) you will need to disable this feature. Simply head back to the Profiles area (by pressing your phone's menu button). Now select your profile, scroll to Integration and deselect Redirect normal calls.
Making a VoIP call over the phone network
By default VoIP calls will only be made and received when you are in a known WIFi zone. Depending on your mobile network, you can sometimes make VoIP calls over a data connection. To enable this feature, head back to the Profiles area (by pressing your phone's menu button). Now select your profile, scroll to Integration and select Enable 3G.
Please note that this is extremely network dependant and may not work successfully.
Transferring a call
To perform a blind transfer during a call, simply press the Transfer button, dial the number you wish to transfer the call to and press the green call button. The call will now be transferred automatically.
