If you wish to use a deskphone overseas you might need a power adaptor compatible with the country that you are in.
You may find that the internet connection that you are trying to use is not suitable for VoIP calls. Problems that you may find include:
- Poor speed
- Congestion (lots of other users sharing the same network)
- Voice traffic blocked
Unfortunately our support team will be unable to assist with any calling problems that are related to the internet connection that you are attempting to use.
You may find that your device does not behave as usual when using another Internet connection, and sometimes this can be caused by the firewall. A common problem caused by router firewalls is one way audio. This guide can assist you with resolving this issue, however the ability to do this may depend on the access you have to the router configuration.
Wireless Internet connections
If you are attempting to use a softphone on a laptop, and are connected to the Internet using a wireless connection, you may find that you experience poor call quality. The best way to resolve this is to use a network cable to connect your laptop to the router (or switch) if possible.
In a limited number of countries the use of VoIP is restricted. For example, at the time of writing this article only VoIP to VoIP calls are legal in India (not VoIP calls to a fixed telephone line), and is illegal in UAE and Oman.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, and Gradwell assume no responsibility for the use of VoIP overseas. Therefore even though in most countries there are no legal restrictions in using VoIP, it is worth checking before you attempt to use our services.
If you are a Gradwell Mobile user roaming is turned off on your account by default.
