To find out the phone's IP address, please press the ? or Help button on the phone.
Accessing the phone's interface
Now that you have the IP address of the phone, please type this into your internet browser at the top of the page.
The phone will prompt you for a username and password (if you have purchased your phone from Gradwell please read this guide for more help with this).
Statically assigning the phone an IP address
(It is important not to skip this step)
Now that you have logged into your snom phone, you will need to assign this a static IP address. This is important because if the phone's IP address changes, the ports that you will forward later will be going to the wrong place.
In the snom's interface, click the Advanced tab on the left hand side of the page.Click the Network tab and enter your network details.
Configuring the SIP Port and RTP Ports
Now you need to configure the SIP listening port. Select Advanced from the left hand navigation menu. Click SIP/RTP at the top of the page
Enter a unique port number into the Network identity (port) field.
Please note that the configuration if you wish to use multiple phones is a little different. For example if you have two phones, then you would set the network identity (port) to 5060 for the first phone and 5062 for the second phone. These ports will need to be forwarded through the firewall to the static IP address of your phone of which you have just set. Please see this article for more help with this.
If you are using multiple phones behind your firewall, you will also need to stagger the RTP ports used by each phone. Usually these are specified in intervals of 100. For example 40000 - 40100, so ensure that each of your phone has a unique start and stop range in the RTP/RTCP section.
Now your phone has been setup ready for port forwarding. Next you will need to configure the router to use the ports that you have specified on the phone and map these so that the traffic is passed to the IP address of the phone.
For more information on configuring port forwarding on your router, please read this article.
